Healthcare accelerators are one of the main reasons why startups in the sector have increased their capital funding. Now, Technorely has focused in a blog post on “the top healthcare accelerators” and delved into eight of them.

Six of the eight accelerators are in North America, with three each in the USA and Canada. The other two are in Europe: Bayer G4A, headquartered in Germany, and BaseLaunch, which is operated by the location promotion organization BaselArea.swiss.

BaseLaunch has two key aspects, according to the article – funding and mentoring. The program for healthcare startups is composed of two phases, runs for 15 months, and focuses on startups in therapeutics, diagnostics and vaccines. The article also highlights the benefits of the accelerator’s location in Basel: BaseLaunch gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn and work within the Basel region, a leading life sciences hub in Europe, it writes.

StartUp Health, Blueprint Health and Health Wildcatters from the USA and JLABS, MaRS Innovation and Interface Health from Canada are the North American accelerators included in the list.
